05.03.2012

Glamorous Slovenia, a three-episode documentary that presents stunning and mysterious Postojna Cave, picturesque Lake Bled and elegant ancient capital of Ljubljana to the Chinese audience premiered on Chinese national television documentary channel CCTV-9 on 27 February.

The first episode entitled “Enchanting Symphony” is focused on the Postojna Cave with Predjama Castle, the second one entitled “Image of Paradise” presents Lake Bled, Lipica and its Lipizzaner horses, and the third episode entitled “Beloved Town” portrays Ljubljana.

It is Chinese Central Television’s first nonfiction program to zoom in on a European country. The series presents Slovenia through a Chinese perspective and offers insights into Slovenian civilization, CCTV's president Hu Zhanfan told the press conference at the documentary premiere in Beijing, which was attended by 40 representatives of the media and embassies. The documentary also pays tribute to the 20th anniversary of Slovenian-Chinese diplomatic relations.

A CCTV crew carried out interviews and filmed the documentary on various locations in Slovenia from mid-September 2011 to early November 2011 and captured wonderful sights of nature in late summer, colourful autumn, and first snow.

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, also gave an interview for the documentary, stressing that he was looking forward to the release of the documentary about Slovenia, since he was curious how China, a 5,000-year-old civilization and an Asian ancient country, would portray his country.
